{Joyous Holidays} You Can Have It All

by Africa
There is something about the holiday season that makes me think about what I do and don't have in my life. Do you have these thoughts, too? Perhaps it is the commercials, your neighbor's over-the-top holiday light display, or any of those other nagging indicators that we just don't have everything. I want to focus my attention on joy, but I get distracted by all the shiny objects.  I came across an infographic called A Woman's Paradox (here's the link). This infographic became a shiny object of a different variety for me. I was hypnotically drawn to the pictures [...]

{Joyous Holidays} DIY Cousin It Christmas Tree

by Africa
Have you ever had a DIY project go crazy sideways? It happened to me and Hunter, my daughter, this holiday season. Hubby is working his hardest to make me not go holiday crazy this year, even down to my Christmas Day menu. So, that meant no Christmas tree, too. But, I had an idea that he could not get upset about. I decided to pull together a Christmas tree for less than $2. The tree didn't turn out exactly how I had it envisioned in my head. {Joyous Holidays} How Do You Define Joy?

by Africa
I hope you are enjoying the Joyous Holidays series. I wish I could take credit for the idea. Joyous Holidays was the brainchild of a {Rock Your Everyday Life} community members. She wanted me to find out different people's definition of JOY. We are about a week into the series, and I felt it was time I tackle the question head on. I started out with some soul-searching. by Africa
I woke up this morning and realized I had no idea what I would be serving on Christmas Day. I know it is over two weeks away, but I like to be prepared! Thoughts of roasts, ham, turkeys, and steak (yes, steak or was it fajitas?) danced through my head. Then I remembered two things almost at the same time: Hubby said not to go crazy extravagant with Christmas dinner, and My daughter will be with her dad for Christmas. That means it will be hubby, son, and me. My son is a grazer, so thinking he will sit and [...]

{Joyous Holidays} Gifts of Experience

by Africa
I love making homemade goodies and crafts to give as holiday gifts, but there are those holidays seasons where time is at a premium, and I could easily fall into the holiday buying frenzy at the big box stores or the mall. It is doing those busy holiday seasons that I remember to give gifts of experience. Even if I am not closely connected to someone, I know an experience will be memorable. My daughter's birthday was a few weeks ago. I did not get her a big ticket present or even something tangible. I gave her an experience. She [...]
